Rights of The Streets and Roads in Islam

Observe the rights of the street.

The Prophet (saw) stated:
"Know about sitting in the road. The mates stated: 'Courier of Allah, we have no other decision however to stay there and take part in discussion there.' The Prophet (saw) said:' If you should stay there, at that point give the road its privileges.' They asked:' What are its privileges.' He said:' Lowering the look, abstaining from causing irritation, restoring the welcome, ordering what is acceptable, and restricting what is evil.'"

(Bukhari, Muslim Abu Dawud and Ahmad)

The above amazing hadith shows us how to watch the privileges of the roads and byways and, all the while, give the rights because of every one of those cruising by.

  • The main right of the road referenced by the Prophet (saw) is, bringing down the look. Disregard of this privilege has gotten probably the most concerning issue confronting the present reality. What's more, there is the issue of close to bareness, particularly among ladies, expanding step by step. These issues are getting aggravated prompting expanding impropriety in the entirety of its structures in the public eye.

Satan, the greatest enemy of humanity, always seeks to seduce people and make them haram by making them fair and attractive. In the same way, he promotes sexual intimacy in the name of freedom. He urges happy-loving, misguided men and women to disregard the restrictions imposed by Allah (swt) so that they disregard their natural temperament.

Allah (swt) said:

"O you who accept! Try not to follow the strides of Satan. Whoever follows the strides of Satan, at that point positively, he orders foulness and munkar." (Al-Nur : 21)

  • The second right of the road referenced by the Prophet (saw), is to abstain from causing disturbance in the road and streets. This privilege is exhaustive and incorporates everything that would trouble or bother other people such as spitting, smoking, being drunk on the roadside, throwing rubbish on the streets, blocking pathways where people need to pass, kissing, laughing in a very loud and disturbing manner,  public displays of sexual affection and hugging.

Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw) have forbidden  us from making any type of irritation our kindred Muslims and other people either by our discourse or our activities with any sort of unbecoming conduct.

  • The third right of the road is to answer to welcome which are given, for without a doubt restoring a welcome combines hearts and makes a feeling of affection and kind disposition between individuals, therefore expanding their confidence. Allah (swt) explicitly told the returning of welcome in the Holy Qur'an
At the point when an affable welcome is offered to you, answer to it with a welcome considerably progressively considerate, or if nothing else of equivalent graciousness. To be sure, Allah assesses all things.” (Al-Nisa’: 86)

Hence, it is evil to overlook welcome and not answer as needs be at whatever point they are offered to us. We are considered responsible for returning welcome as Allah (swt) said in the above stanza even the apparently straightforward answer to welcome advertised.

Besides, The Prophet (saw) explicitly demonstrated that the demonstration of spreading welcome of harmony among us achieves love of one another in our souls and fortifies our confidence. Abu Hurairah portrayed that the Prophet (saw) stated:

” Spread the greetings of peace among you.”
The last right of the roadways which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded is to please and please Allah and to prevent one another from evil. This is a very important issue that helps in reforming both individuals and society so that good character and moral values are ingrained in the society. Otherwise, if evil is left unchecked in society, we run the risk of total destruction. Allah (swt) reminds us of this situation in the Qur'an so that we may consider what we say:

“ Evil has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of humans have earned (by their oppression and evil deeds), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah and begging His pardon).”
( Al-Rum: 41)

Therefore, in order to be safe from these disasters in society, we must always have people who point out the good and prevent the evil. Without such people, immorality spreads more in the society, and the punishment of Allah comes after it.
